PermalinkThe Oceanian team has to win 4 matches to get to the final (in a 6 team
knockout tournament!), and in 2 of those matches their opponents have
home advantage. All the other matches are played at a neutral venue,
but FIFA seem to like to pick on Oceania.
The Asian team, by a random draw (Oceania didn't have the benefit of a
random draw), has to win 4 matches to reach the final, but they have
home advantage in 1 of them.
The African team has to win 3 matches to reach the final (1 with home
advantage).
The North American and South American teams have to win 2 matches to
get to the final.
The European team doesn't play any matches to get to the final.
Not exactly the most sensible, fair format they could have come up with.
What have FIFA got against Oceania?!
And what's with the name? The maximum possible probability of getting
it confused with the old unofficial World Club Championship! Couldn't
they have come up with a more original name than that?!
And what's the point of having this tournament aswell as the Club World
Cup?
Isn't this tournament a waste of time?
