Heidenheim - Freiburg
Heims > Burgs. 2-1
Looking at the all time Bundesliga table, I think the Burgs have the
edge, and that is not even counting Nürnberg as a Burg.
Wolfsburg 15th place
Duisburg 17th
Freiburg 19th
Augsburg 28th
Homburg 44th
vs.
Hoffenheim 24th (already that many seasons, they are in their 17th!)
SV Waldhoff Mannheim 30th
Heidenheim 50th.
Not a lot of Heims in total though.
Prussians (Borussia or Preeßsen) have on average been better than both.
Longest active streaks of BL participation:
Bayern 1965 -
Dortmund 1976 -
Leverkusen 1979 -
Wolfsburg 1997 -
That kind of surprised me, though I suppose I would have worked it out
had I thought about it. Seems like long streaks are rarer than in other
big leagues, though maybe I am out to lunch there. I know Barca, Real
Madrid, and Athletic Club have never been relegated, but am not sure
about other streaks. Certainly Atletico, Betis, Sevilla, and Real
Sociedad have all gone down not too long ago. Valencia have been top
flight since 1987 I think.
In England, Everton, Arsenal have long streaks, and Liverpool since the
60s. Man United since 1975 or so. Chelsea and Spurs must go back further
than Wolfsburg.
