I've decided who I think the top 10 are. I didn't want to do this too soon after the previous discussion, but that was over a year ago now.

Thanks everyone for your feedback back then, which helped me decide.

Here's my top 10:

1 Real Madrid 1956-60
2 AC Milan 1988-96
3 Independiente 1972-75
4 Barcelona 2009-15
5 Real Madrid 2014-18
6 Bayern Munchen 1974-76
7 Ajax 1971-73
8 Sao Paulo 1992-94
9 Penarol 1960-66
10 Internazionale 1963-66

And an honourable mention to Santos's team that won 5 consecutive Taca Brazils, 2 consecutive Copa Libertadores and 2 consecutive World Club Championships in the 1960s. (In fact there could be a case for including them ahead of Inter, at number 10.)

River Plate's La Maquina of the 1940s not included?

You inspired me to look up Argentinian League Champions in the 1940s to see how good they were. River Plate and Torino's teams of the 1940s were likely the best teams ever, before the Alfredo di Stefano-era Real Madrid. River won 4 League Championships, and were runners-up 4 times, in the 1940s. And from memory, Torino won the League and Cup double in 1943 and won the Italian League Championship 4 years in a row from 1946-49. I don't think there's enough evidence to suggest that either of them belong in the top 10 best ever.
