Saturday 1st June 2024, 8pm GMT, Wembley Stadium, London, England:

UEFA Champions League Final:

Borussia Dortmund - Real Madrid

Dortmund have won the Champions League once previously in 1997, Real
Madrid have won the Champions League and it's predecessor the European
Cup 14 times! But it's a one off match, and Dortmund will feel they have
unfinished business at Wembley after losing the 2013 final there to
Bayern Munich.

Three pitch invaders apparently stopped play but the broadcast censored
what happened, any ideas what this was about (I can probably guess)?

Borussia certainly didn't look like outsiders. 0 - 0 at half time but
they had by far the most chances and all the dangerous ones.
In fact, it seemed that at begin Real thought they were favorites and
wanted to finish things off quickly, until about minute 30, and
Borussia caught them on the counter several times with remarkable ease.
Real were lucky to escape a few times. Then Ancelotti remembered that
he's a pragmatist and plays best when the other team is attacking, so
he must have told his men to cool down and be more prudent. It showed,
after that Borussia didn't have any other big opportunity. Neither did
Real though.
In the second half Modric is almost certain to appear so things might
change. Anyway Real are usually better in the second half so let's see.

I have to say I think Borussia should have had a penalty, for the
obvious push on Adeemi in min. 30. But the VAR seems to have seen it
differently. (It's one many refs wouldn't call, I'd say, probably
mostly because it was at the lateral edge of the box with no imminent
danger to the goal. But by the book it's still a penalty.)

And they will be duly punished. There's no way you can let a team like
Real off the hook so many times and get away with it

I honestly believe Real would have won it even if
Dortmund had gone in front (as they should have,
of course). Perhaps not after 90 minutes though.

Good summary, Dortmund even hit the post, unlucky not to be ahead.

The Hewlett Packard sponsorship on Real Madrid's sleeves is making them
look more like Spurs.

Real has already come close a few times in the second half. Now Reus in
for Adeyemi.

Bellingham wastes a chance to make it 2-0, and now Dortmund are all
over
the place. Congrats to Real on number 15
Vini Jr doesn't waste his chance, courtesy of a Maatsen+Bellingham
assist. 2-0.

Kroos out, Modric in. Admittedly, two legends.

Indeed.
Impressive number. They're having a golden period under Perez, no doubt
about it.

Vini quite impressive too. Best on the field IMO. Though the decisive
goal came from a well executed corner by Kroos + Carvajal. Nothing
spectacular but a highly professional move that broke the deadlock.

Oh dear. As many predicted at half time, Dortmund went on to regret
their missed chances, Real Madrid took about 70 minutes to get a proper
chance and scored with a header from Carvajal and followed it up with
another from Vinicius Junior. FT 2-0 Real Madrid.

Oh, the pitch invaders were apparently something to do with a well known
streamer who allegedly offered a large cash prize to anyone who got onto
the pitch wearing a t-shirt bearing said streamer's name. Welcome to the
modern World.

I lost the picture about 10 or 15 minutes from the end, with the score
still 1-0. Can anyone give me a match report of the last 10 or 15
minutes?

Judging by what I saw, Dortmund were the better team in the 1st half,
Real Madrid were the better team in the 2nd half. It wasn't a
particularly good match.
