No Son or Erikssen for Spurs. Dele (inexplicably left out of the UtN Bungs lineup) with an early chance early on. Still mostly a cagey affair, though.

Neymar makes it 2-0. Not a good result for Napoli, who, as things stand, will need to get a result at Anfield.

Fantastic refereeing. Di Maria stupidly tries to tackle and
Mané falls. See that I say "oh dear, penalty, Paris is lucky
the referee didn't see it".

But with the replay, wa can see Mané diving. So I say to myself :
"Waow, what such a good decision !". And, coming back to the
live, I see this $#¤$ of surface referee giving the penalty to
Liverpool. What a joke, he was at the opposite of the business

First: Oh, PSG getting away with it!
Then: Beautifully performed dive that eventually fooled the ref(s)!

?? How. PSG would still only be one point behind Liverpool, with their
last game vs. Red Star to come, and Liverpool perfectly capable of not
winning their home game to Napoli

What you MAY have meant was that a draw in Paris today means that,
assuming Napoli finish today on 9 points, Napoli can afford to lose at
Anfield, which would eliminate PSG regardless of how badly they beat Red
Star. Napoli has the tie breaker vs. PSG (1-1 at home, 2-2 in Paris).

Yes, that's right. A PSG win, on the other hand, sets up a final-day showdown between Liverpool and Napoli. It also creates a potentially interesting situation with a three-way tie at the top of the table (if Liverpool beats Napoli and PSG doesn't beat Red Star). I think that Liverpool would come out on top, and then there's the question mark about whether it goes to overall GD or iterated H2H to decide what happens between Napoli and PSG.

Neither. With 3 teams of 9 it will be the table of the 3-team mini
league. Liverpool wins that one on points. With current scores, PSG
takes second on GD or goals scores, unless Liverpool - Napoli ends 4-3
or higher scoring.

In which case you would have the iterated H2H-overall GD dilemma. Whatever, that's not very likely.

In the meantime, Spurs are getting increasingly frustrated. Son has come on, and now Erikssen is getting ready too. Still 0-0

They will go to overall GD, which favours PSG.

However 5-4 would qualify both teams. The Biscotto to end all Biscottos?

Risky without certain knowledge of the outcome of PSG's game, which
would have to be a draw for any of this to be relevant. Go Crvena Zvezda !

If PSG either wins or loses, a high scoring Liverpool 1 goal win puts Napoli ahead because of the AGR. So Liverpool would always have an incentive to go for a bigger win (either to qualify, or to gain first place). Yeah, not a very stable equilibrium. Then again, biscotti typically aren't stable.

Yeah. Now just rinse and repeat against Barcelona. Of course, if there is one team you can count on to throw it away at home, that would be Inter.

In Paris, FT 2-1. PSG in the driving seat to qualify. Ancelotti will have to prove his worth in Alkamista's den.

If Liverpool wins on Napoli and Paris makes a draw in Beograd,
we have :
1. LIV
2. NAP
3. PSG

Correct ?

They would all be on 9 points, so you look at the minileague between the three:

Liverpool 6 4+x+d, 5+x
PSG 5 7 7
Napoli 5 4+x 3+x+d

So:
Any Liverpool win by two goals or more: LIV, PSG
Liverpool wins 1-0, 2-1, 3-2: LIV and PSG
Liverpool wins 4-3: PSG and Napoli exactly tied in the minileague, you look at overall GD, where PSG has the advantage. LIV and PSG
Liverpool wins 5-4, 6-5. etc: Napoli gets the edge in the minileague because of more goals scored. LIV and NAP.

As Jesper corerctly said, you would need the biscotto to end all biscottos for Napoli to advance from the three-way minileague.

No. You look first at the overall mini-league before going back to H2H. So PSG has the edge. Napoli needs a point at Anfield to be sure of qualifying.

A 1-0 loss and a PSG win qualifies Liverpool because of better overall GD

Correct. Liverpool goes through if:
1) They win 1-0
2) They win by a 2 goal margin
3) They win by any score and PSG doesn't win at RSB

It was a good, fast paced game, with Liverpool generating lots of
chances. Napoli got into the game more around 60 mins, realizing
perhaps that as long as they scored one, it didn't matter if Liverpool
did too. Liverpool had lots of very high quality chances (mostly Mané)
that they blew, and were really tempting fate by not putting the game to
bed when they could have. Referee was a bit inconsistent too.

Whereas the EPL got all four through (quite unexpectedly given United's
form and the group Spurs were in), and Spain and Germany managed only 3
each.

Napoli will probably get at least the 5 (bonus) points they missed out
on by not advancing. Inter I would be more surprised by as they need to
focus on the league to make the CL again next year. Juve and Napoli have
a nice cushion to work with.

On the UCL side LFC, PSG, and Juve tied for fourth place at a 10% chance of winning it. Above them are MC (19), Barca (12), BM (11).

My unsophisticated view in terms of favorites in decreasing order: MC, Barca, Juve, LFC, PSG.

The two big wildcards are Bayern and Dortmund. Not sure how bad Bayern can be and how good Dortmund can be on the biggest stage.

Real Madrid are a pretty big wildcard too. They ought to improve, and of
course can make a significant signing or two in the January window
(teams with prize assets not already cup tied in Europe had better look
out, since I think they can sign and play as many of those as they like

Indeed. And it would have been just punishment for Liverpool for choking on so many chances (not dissimilar to how Juve blew it at home to MU).

But boy did Liverpool have bundles of great chances. Four clear shots inside the box with only the keeper to beat, and at least one wide open goal missed from 4 yards out. And there were still more good chances. A 5-0 score would not have been too flattering for LFC. And we almost threw it all away. All hail Alisson Becker.
