Can Canada afford to play for a draw, or would that be too risky with
the possibility of Peru beating Argentina?

Argentina don't need a win or a point, so Peru might well steal a win in
that one. I can't see Canada beating Chile unless they get really
lucky. I expect us to implode, get a red card (too many players have a
short fuse, especially Buchanan and Laryea), and be overwhelmed.

Argentina don't need a win or a point, so Peru might well steal a win in
that one.   I can't see Canada beating Chile unless they get really

They got lucky but still could not win vs. 10 men. Pretty hectic and
chippy match. Bombito lucky not to be punished for an early apparent
elbow. Then Suazo got two yellows, maybe a little harsh, by the 27th
minute. In spite of that Chile played valiantly and had some chances.
Old Alexis Sanchez still very committed to the cause, and skillful.
We had our chances too, and even had the ball in the net, correctly
ruled out for a close offside. Lots of corners, and David put the ball
wide when through on goal alone (after which he had a collison with
Arias, the GK, which brought back memories of Schumacher - Battiston,
and went unpunished (probably correctly so).
We picked up 5 yellows at least. Had lots of corners and some good
passages of play, but I have a strong feeling we would have lost to 11
men.

Crepeau was very good as GK - a big improvement over Borjan. Arias was
also excellent for them. Other than that we had decent games from
Johnston, Cornelius, Laryea, and especially Eustaquio.
Davies, David and Larin a bit disappointing and Bombito very shaky early
on, though he got better.
Sub Buchanan had a couple of good moments.

We may well play Venezuela next, apparently, so we are in with a (small)
chance of reaching the semis.
