Kean scored Juventus' second goal against cagliari, so he celebrated
directly in front of a section of home fans and was racially jeered.

Bonucci says Kean is 50% to blame for being racially abused.

I always knew Bonucci was a brainless idiot, but not to this extent.

Bonucci is a big part of the problem. Just like Salvini, he chose to minimize (or diminish) the scourge of open racism. It could be due to one of two reasons, IMO. As someone who has probably never experienced open racism, he doesn't comprehend how hurtful it can be. Or, he tacitly approves of it. The latter may seem unlikely, but with the current wave on anti-immigration populism sweeping Europe (and the world, FTM), maybe he feels that is the price immigrants (and their children) have to pay (even if he likes Kean on a personal level). After all, a vast majority of professional footballers come from working class backgrounds and are raised in households and neighborhoods more prone to these kind of sentiments.

Either way, Bonucci is a dumb fuck and deserves some blowback from this. What that blowback is will speak a lot about the current state of Italian football (and by extension, society). His statement cannot and should not be brushed under the rug, not with everything else going on right now.

Cagliari ARE a racist club. This is the third racist indecent they've
been involved in recent years, Matuidi and I forget who the other guy
was before him. Ironically, Bonucci's idiotic comments will lead to more
outrage and scrutiny outside of Italy than had he supported Kean.
Whether anything is done depends on how seriously the league takes the
negative criticism and I imagine, given how important image is in a
world of multinational sponsors, they will.

If that were the FA, Bonucci would be done for the rest of the year for that stupidity.

This is Italy, one of the most corrupt major soccer nations out there. I don't know if anything gets done.

Yes. He was super-dumb, and his attempt to correct the record today with a meek Instagram post made things even worse.

It's some combination of the former, and an attitude of "let's look the other way to avoid controversy." He nominally supports the toothless "no to racism" campaign, but is not really ready to take a stand when push comes to shove.

And, even aside from the racism issue, the fact that he threw his young teammate under the bus in front of everybody...

He's just dumb. The problem is, this didn't even make headlines in Italy
until many other footballers outside of Italy criticised him.

That is the problem, nothing is done about it.

It shouldn't, but it will. The Cagliari fans should also be banned, but they
won't.

Racism exists everywhere, in some countries it's dealt with. In Italy, they
sweep it under the carpet.
