England demolished Czech R 5-0 yesterday and it was a devastating performance. The technical level of this English team is better than....ever?

Up front they have the world's best #9 in Kane, flanked by Sterling who is surely a top 5-10 winger in the world now, and an explosive Rashford. Either of those two injured? No problem, you have phenomenal teenagers Sancho and Hudson-Odoi waiting in the wings. In fact, one could argue that Sancho might already be more influential than Rashford.

The midfield is more blue-collar, but maybe it doesn't need to be more considering the attacking talent at their disposal. The defense has excellent young ball players in all 4 spots: TAA, Gomez, Stones, Chilwell (who'll be at Man City next season, I'm pretty sure).

Second best squad in the Europe right now after France, IMO.

Given the vast amount of money the FA have invested, it's about time.

The midfield is big problem. That's why they fast tracked Rice.

Henderson is immobile, you can't rely on him given his injury record.

Barkley is terribly inconsistent.

Fodden would seem to be the one who can knit it all together but can you
really go into a championship with two 20 years olds in midfield?

There are options but he has to get the balance right.

Agreed on all points. England is very similar to Liverpool in that the midfield is grunt workers because the front three and the two fullbacks provide most of the creativity. In that setup a classic #10 isn't needed because the #9 often drops deeper into the hole (Kane, Firmino). So a big physical Dele Alli work well in that system as the advanced midfielder (also provides an aerial threat, which is a bonus). So Foden isn't really needed. With Alli, you can have two of Henderson, Dier, and Rice providing the midfield base. I think England is already balanced. Southgate has been most impressive.
