(OT) Getting to know RSS'ers

Earlier today, I found out a girl from another newsgroup was 5'10" and
weighed 13st9 (that's okay, she was pregnant), which startled me. I
had pictured her as a mousey little thing, and here she was towering
over me in real life.

It was then I realised so few of us here have only a black and white
computer terminal idea of how we are. Sometimes that's good (for
questions of safety or just anonymity, which is fine), but it's nice
to colour in the pictures sometimes, don't you think? :)

I mean, I know Sven Mischkies has a head of long Paris Hilton-like
blond hair which he keeps in a pony-tail, Jason Maxwell is a cuddly
man, and Zheroen is quite handsome with his aquiline features, Jackie
Tellier has brown eyes to go with that doll-like Dutch face, because
in the latter three cases, they've shared their photos with RSS. But
mostly, we don't really know how we are.

So here is a brief description of me. :)

I am 28 years-old, standing at 5'6 and a smidge (that smidge means a
lot to me!), I have short straight strawberry blonde hair (I cut it
Princess Diana style when I was around 16), and eyes of hazel which
darken or lighten according to my moods, and I fluctuate somewhere to
the plus or minus of 9st. I have an athletic build because my mother
had me playing tennis, riding, or generally running around since I
could toddle around.

I look a bit like Keira Knightley in BILB, but just in the face, and
mostly just around the eye area. Her body is angular and flat, whilst
mine is curvy and erm, not so flat.

How about you? How do you look like? :)

No I haven't seen it, but I was under the impression that
his gambling debts were the reason he takes all and every
acting job offered to him. He must have a bit of a sense
of humour for his role in 'Top Secret' though.

Cuddly, at least in MY lexicon, is a positive description. And in any
case, I wouldn't have said anything negative. I mean, I already knew
Benny's height, because he told me on #rss, but I sure as hell wasn't
going to mention that.

I stand by that. But that's not the same as being anti-academic. One
of the best footballing crowds used to be (don't know if it still is)
Partick Thistle's which traditionally attracted large numbers of

In fact, anti-intellectualism is very common amongst all social classes in
this country and is common at different epochs with different political and
social movements in different countries.

In fact, one of the reasons you know you are in Britain is because of it's
anti-intellectualism. One of its defining characteristics which baffles
bourgeois foreigners you might say.

I found out a girl from another newsgroup was 5'10"
and weighed 13st9 ..
I am 28 years-old, standing at 5'6 and a smidge .. and I fluctuate
somewhere to the plus or minus of 9st.
Also for other people who replied to this post, metrical people as me
can't get a clue to what 5'5", 5'6" or 5'10" are meaning, not to tell to
weird expressions as 9st or 13st9 :-)

Apart from that, I'm 171 cm (that is, in my life the only city where I
found myself tall and towering others was Reggio Calabria), in the past
6 years my weight wandered between 57 kg to 81 kg (nowadays I'm around
72kg), my hairs also from a black eight to a pony tail and coming back,
going from curly to straight in the process (many relatives of me aren't
believing that was natural), I'm alternatively beardless, beardfull,
with goaties and moustaches depending from the lunar phases, and I never
miss shower for 2 consecutive days (although I like more to have that
daily, in the morning).
Back at middle school I continuosly won the award for the better nose,
although I never did through between the top 10 boys (there were lot of
concurrents, anyway), while I was slightly more successfull at high
school (girls began to give points also to my eyes, and the boys/girl
ratio was something as 1/10 or better). The color of my eyes is a matter
of bets, it is a kind of my mother family brand, we call them Cerulei
but the English translation (sky-blue) I found on Logos dictionary
doesn't suit those; with the sea at my back they looks blue, with the
garden at my back they look green, with fornitures at my back they look
brown, with clouds in the heaven they look gray. Pretty a misfortune
when dealing with policeman ;-)
My dream job would be owning my own jewellery or my own bank, but due my
current financial state, I have to spend my life dealing with computers,
that given the Italian market, it is pretty a misfortune (I was reading
weeks ago that even the Indians are paid more than us, those little
peanut eaters[*]).

[*] post scriptum: little peanut eaters was referenced to Italians, not
to Indians ..

Here's another wonder of Google for you...

Type in a phrase such as "convert 5 feet 5 inches to centimeters" into
the search box, click and....

it gives you the converted measurement.

Neat.

Absolutely my favourite photo of the ones so kindly shown so far. What a
brilliant baby, and if that's yours (facial resemblence would suggest,
but it could be your sister's youngster, e.g.), and as far as the daddy
is concerned, yowza. And anyway, as mentioned on UKSF, nothing melts my
heart more than a proud, loving papa.

P.S.: Oh dear oh dear. I wanted descriptions not photos! Mind you, the
photos are great. :)

Depending upon the body part, I always fancied myself a three-way
hybrid of Brad Pitt, Ron Jeremy, and the current guv-nah of
California. Alas, none of my girlfriends have ever reported observing
any of these similarities. : (

What *others* see is an ordinary looking joe about 176 cm., (a shade

between Paul Simon's and Art Garfunkel's.

Okay, since you're in profile, Daguerrotype if you will, I can't say who

Like Richard Harris, you are greying before your time, because if you

Whoops - that's what happens when you edit your posts midstream (it made
more sense before - I promise).

I read about the paper in the New Scientist in October (I meant to write
something then but it slipped my mind), and there was a response in the
letters page the next month (there were actually two, the second being
more complementary - comparing the work with Friedrich List).

lot to me!), I have short straight strawberry blonde hair (I cut it
Princess Diana style when I was around 16), and eyes of hazel which
darken or lighten according to my moods, and I fluctuate somewhere to
the plus or minus of 9st.

Earlier today, I found out a girl from another newsgroup was 5'10" and
weighed 13st9 (that's okay, she was pregnant), which startled me. I
had pictured her as a mousey little thing, and here she was towering
over me in real life.
what's 13st9?

We use st. (stone) instead of lbs. (pounds) because of possible
confusion with our currency. You multiply by 14 to get the weight in
lbs. Then convert it to metric below.

http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/weight
http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/length

You can use that for many conversions, including distance/height. Plus
it shows ancient measurements, a boon to Biblical historians e.g.!

I'm 5'6" so I stand around Ale's height at 1.71m.

You're either the cute bespectacled guy in the grey tee to the left
(receeding hairline like you once told me), or the guy just behind him
in the light-striped shirt, looking conspicuously like the best
Scrabble champion amongst the lot. :)

Quite obviously he's not Frank Bough (bottom row second from right).

I've found no sign of me over the 'net, except for this small pic at

http://bandapierrots.blogger.com.br/

which is the blogger of a band that I'm no longer part of. Just as it opens
there's a picture of this band at the top right side. I'm with a red shirt,
wearing glasses, standing in the back (whoever bothers to check, don't
confuse me with the guy also with glasses wearing the red England jersey,
beside the one with the Scotland jersey)

*rrrrr* Nossa que gato! How come you got to be peaking from the backrow?
I thought drummers had priority? :)

BTW, I know you're no longer in the band, but some pedante person has to
tell them "ZUM GERBUSTAG VIEHL GLUH!!!" is wrong, on so many levels. :)
