Who the hell knows who is going to start? Roma and Lazio have nothing to play for, boththough with easy-ish matchups. Juve needs a win against Young Boys to guarantee first place, Inter needs points at home against PSV

It will be crucial to monitor actual lineups. For the moment, let's go with:

DF: Romagnoli, Acerbi, Bonucci

FW: Insigne, Cutrone (c), Politano, El Shaarawy, Immobile

Tinkering!

Rakitic seems to be out, and Modric never scores. Tadic, on the other hand, is on fire with Ajax this season. But he's also a forward according to UEFA, which means I'll need more tinkering. Perisic and Orsic in at midfield, Tadic in at forward for Petkovic. Also Rrahmani in for Leskovic, so that we have a Kosovar in the squad.

Updated Bros:

So a toss-up between Paintsil and Carcela-Gonzalez.

Robben is out (injured) replace with Praet of Anderlecht
Scratch that, I somehow thought he had been loaned back to Anderlecht,
but I must be confusing him with someone else. OK, how about Ryan Babel
of Besiktas, listed as MF on UEFA web site
No Babel. Zut. Replace with Strootman of Marseille.

Sadio Mané had enough chances to put this whole competition beyond doubt
for the Aliquids (and fluffed some sitters), and Feghouli missed a

That Tagliafico goal really made the difference, and now the Gauchos must be strong favorites to win the title. If I'm not mistaken, they still have Funes Mori, Lo Celso, Banega and Higuain to play tomorrow, versus only Elneny and Haidara (or whoever replaces him) for the Aliquids.

But the Bros (Jedvaj, Rrahmani, Verbic, Orsic, Petkovic, Jovic and Trickovski) and the Lazies (Grenier, Karamoh, Briand, Ben Yedder) still have an outside chance if they can win the match day outright and get the 20 point bonus.

If I understand the rules right, a sole winner will gain at least 10 points on their rivals. So the brothers, liquids and gauchoes will all win if they take this round, no matter where everyone else finishes.

Yes, that sounds right. A sole winner gets at least 8 extra bonus points on the second placed team (20 vs. 12) plus of course he must have one additional goal, multiplied by 2. So at the very least, a 10-point gain over all his opponents.

Standings before the beginning of the match day:

TotGoals TotPoints
Gauchos 24 49.5
Aliquids 20 44
Brothers 20 40
Bungs 14 34
Lazies 16 31

Armata 8 16
Tauras 5 9

So yes, Gauchos, Aliquids and Brothers guaranteed to win if they win the round outright. Bungs would need a couple of hat-tricks or more by their double-named army. Lazies need to: a) win the round, b) score four additional goals and have the Gauchos slip to 4th place, or score five additional goals and have the Gauchos slip to 3rd place.

- Aliquids are done (Iwobi not even on the bench).
- Bros need four goals from Hajrovic, Orsic and Kampl. Defenders are not going to help (Rrahmani on the bench, Jedvaj not in the squad)
- Lazies could at least get back on the podium if Briand scores. Karamoh on the bench.
- A hattrick by Cutrone and the Armata could climb a position.
- But the most likely outcome is that Higuain will extend the Gauchos' lead

Not much happening in UtN land, but Milan was briefly out of the EL after falling down 2-0 to Olympiacos thanks to a Zapata own goal, then Zapata redeems himself by bundling one past the goal line. Still, Olympiacos is just one goal away from qualification.

Elsewhere, the Red Bull tag team is conspiring to eliminate Celtic.

Correct. I didn't even look up his nationality, for some reason I was convinced he was Romanian. He was nowhere near my radar screen. But it would have made a difference only if I had made him captain.

As a group, we went 159 for 369, for an efficiency rating of 0.431.

Season ranking by efficiency rating:

Gauchos 36 53 0.679

Brothers 26 69 0.377
Windmills 12 43 0.279
Tauras 5 20 0.250

Jesper was the most efficient, by a large margin. To be honest, not that
difficult when you have Messi, Icardi, Dybala and co. An honorable
second place for the Armata, just a handful of decimals ahead of the
Aliquids. Below average performance for the Windmills and Tauras
(although the latter is in part justified by Jesus and I having
different criteria on who was Tauras-eligible).

How about the efficiency points ranking:

Windmills 25.5 60.3 0.423
Tauras 9 22.5 0.400

If each team had played their optimal lineup, while everybody else
played what they actually did:

TotPoints TotBestPointsCP TotEffPointsCP
Gauchos 77.5 102.5 0.756
Bungs 34 67.7 0.502
Aliquids 62 128 0.484
Lazies 59 126 0.468
Armata 16 35.5 0.451
Brothers 52 129 0.403
Windmills 25.5 82.5 0.309
Tauras 9 37.3 0.241

Whichever way you look at it, the Gauchos were the most efficient team.
Bungs jump to second place, Armata slips to fifth.

Thanks to everybody for playing, and see you next year for UtN2019!

Thank for organizing. My rank is undeserved, I almost did
nothing for it.

You picked Briand even though you want him gone from your club. That's some
hard-nosed managing!

à nouveau au foot. Il va postuler aux GdBx, il a sa chance.

Jesper was the most efficient, by a large margin. To be honest, not that
difficult when you have Messi, Icardi, Dybala and co. An honorable
second place for the Armata, just a handful of decimals ahead of the
Aliquids.
Considering the plethora of options at the Aliquids' disposal, that was
really impressive performance by their manager.

Below average performance for the Windmills
Not like that Windmills guy!

As for the Bungs, I think I lost the plot when I missed out on Loftus-
Cheek's hat trick on matchday 3.

If Sadio Mané could shoot straight I might have won.

Yeah, he was useless. But then again, De Bruyne's injury, Hazard's
virtual non-participation (which I guess I should have foreseen),
Robben's fragility (also predictable), and so on did not help. And then
Lukaku's deep slump went on longer than I had hoped.

Last year I had devised a method for calculating a manager's true
efficiency rating (given the options at his disposal). I'll see if I can
implement it again.

Well, at least one of your guys did get a hattrick, not like the useless
Armata...
